In Sweden we pay a TV-license. The people without a TV-license cannot legally own a TV. The license is a fee, the fee is the same for each household in Sweden.
In todays DN.se we can read that a committé is suggesting that the TV-license is put into the trash and that the fee is payed by a fee with the taxes. All fees are unjust if they are not income related. However I don´t think that the article informs me as a reader enough about the suggestion. I wanted to know if the fee suggested is income based or if every Swede must pay the same amount? I don´t see the use of changing the system if the suggested fee isn´t income based.They say it should be a fee like the burrial fee. I don´t know how much the burrial fee is. And I have no interest in finding out either. But if you do, feel free to do so. It might even be a income based tax, do you know?
Overall all fees are bad, since they effect the low income families the most. High income families that earn a lot don´t feel the fee as much as a low income family. I think there should be no fee, it should just be payed by that the regular tax system.
There are a lot of taxes that I feel are injustice to low income families. In Sweden you pay higher taxes if you are on sick leave, parents leave, unemployed and retired. Why? Since the Alliance reformed the system and let everyone that works get a tax reduction. Isn´t it strange that the lowest incomes pay the highest procentage of taxes (I am not including the high incomes that pay additional taxes to the state, they pay more since they earn over a certain limit – many of us however do not pass that income barrier).
Well, I think we should get rid off all unfair taxes and replace them with fair taxes. The lowest incomes should also pay the lowest taxes if it was up to me.
