I do not believe in the fiberoptic network. Everything using online services is at risk. Everything dependent on online services is at risk. So why people choose fiberoptic networks for their telephony I do not understand unless you live far away in the bush and have no choice to use copper lines for telephony. I understand it´s cheaper, it´s much cheaper, but it is not reliable. The old phone lines are still up and running even when the power is out. The old phone lines are much more reliable. They usually work better than the Internet does.
In Sweden 400 000 people were without IP telephony for 14hours, according to Dn.se. That is dangerous. What if someone would have needed help and not been able to contact 112? Bad isn´t it.
The stop this time was due to a software error. It´s like that when the quality assurance is “cut” in time, or skills lack… or when the testing system is too different from the real system.
Before Internet, before social media there was Heta Linjen (Hot line). I used it a lot during my youth years. I met friends with my friends and we had parties and a lot of fun. It was a alternative way to meet new people. We usually met people with a friend, so it felt safer.
Well, it was really a “mistake” by the design of Switch boards for phone calls with no receiver. We where grouped together to a group conversation and we could talk. So really having the Internet and Skype and Facebook… is really old news for someone like me. I used social media long before we even new Facebook. And I do not use Facebook. Not for me, if I am not forced to use it.
Well, in todays DN.se they write that this old form of social media by telephony has turned 30 years old this year. In the newspaper it says that they used it for gathering to demonstrate… interesting, this I did not know, afterall I was pretty young and didn´t know about Heta linjen until high school. At Tekniska museet (technical museum) there is a exhibition about it.
