Far to many times I have to read about people that have gotten sick and paid taxes for many years when they lived the life with money and jobs. Then suddenly one day they get sick and the system fails to deliver. Sure they get health care (they should at least have that, but even there we have seen differences in regions on what type of health care they get – but that is another article), but what about their job, their economy?
During the Alliance ruling in Sweden the health insurance has become a joke for many – many of those that have been sick for a long time – get nothing in to many cases (noone should get nothing). Sick people are forced to get unemployment insurance or welfare if they are “utförsäkrade” as Försäkringskassan says. Welfare is the last resort, in Sweden you are not allowed to own your own home, nor own a car or any other registered vechile. You are not allowed to have money in the bank – welfare is a last resort, it pays the rent (to a certain limit (limit to both size and rent)- if to high – then sorry….you are left without that part).
In this days Aftonbladet.se we can read about a women that has a stady job, in a state financed job (kommunalt jobb) that gets sick in murder bacteria. She gets canned finally from her job since she cannot do heavy lifting anymore… Use, toss and throw away – it´s a nice system we have. I am thinking where did she get the bacteria? Maybe from her job… in heatlh care services… who knows? In other countries she might have gotten a better deal? Now she is sacked after 6 months pay.
Left on poor health care insurance that leaves her in unemployment she is just one of many in Sweden that the system does not work for.
She is far from the only one. The health care insurance has gotten worse with the Alliance new system. The health insurance is low. The unemployment insurance is low. The sick have to fight poverty not just the sickness and getting better. But this is what the Swedish population voted for – so that the working and healthy get more money in their pockets and pay less to public welfare systems.
I am ashamed that the rich get more and the poor get less. That the sick are kicked from their jobs and their economies ruined. What type of message are we sending? Greed rules?
Since Sweden is a democracy – every adult women and men can change this – we all have to speak our mind and vote. If you don´t speak your mind – who will?
