Permanent has a so definite mening to it. It´s almost like “forever” or “lifelong”. A permanent job. I actually don´t want a permanent job just like that. I have thought about it and I really don´t like to be at one place until retirement (is there even going to be that option when I am old, or even more important – will I survive until retirement?)? I am pretty sure I would say no I don´t want a permanent job until retirement. Imagine meeting the people at work until retirement. I rather have project jobs, temp jobs and so on. Unfortunately the bank system is not made for those types of jobs. You cannot get a regular lone when not having a “permanent” job at many banks.
What is a permanent job really? I have held permanent jobs and they have ended up in closed sites and such, so what is permanent? None of my permanent jobs were permanent so to speak. The companies needed to save money or disinvest from the market totally. So I don´t consider any job permanent I just live from day to day.
Today I wished we had another type of work system in Sweden. When I feel bad at a work place I would have enjoyed just leaving a email saying, “I quit”! However in Sweden the system punishes them that do. They do not get any a-kassa for 90 days. The people that are unhappy at work must stay if they are not willing to live on savings (if they have any) or air. I wonder how many people would like to quit their jobs? How many do not feel happy beeing at work? How many wanna go home?
Not all are fit for the insensitive work places in Sweden that doesn´t give a damn if you have a unsettling feeling in the stomach going to work each day.
I wish the people of Sweden had the economic capacity to control their own lifes, not all can quit a unhappy job not having another to go to. This keeps people locked in unhappiness. It´s to sad, beacuse I believe the job market would benefit from people beeing able to quit when something feels bad. Todays a-kassa rules do not benefit the working class. Many are stuck in unhappy work environments and locked in, not beeing able to go to interviews to get a new job (since they have to work maybe daytime).
