Do you shop responsibly with ethics in your mind?

I am guessing many of you reading this perhaps haven’t started to shop ethically. What is shopping ethically? Well being ethical has several dimensions. One is that you care about the environment. The other is that you care about how the products are produced, both from an environmental perspective as well as that people working to produce all the products that you are going to shop.

The reason often for riots and war is that people are dissatisfied. It creates unstable societies not to please the populations. This is nothing new, this is in fact exactly what has been written in both the Koran and the Bible, as well as our history books. Just see what the people starving did to Napoleon and Marie Anoinette! Even if there is one ruler on the top, no matter democracy or dictatorship the people in the end can make any power fall. This has been proven all through history. This means that no power can remain in power if the big masses are not happy with it. So what should persons in power do? They should please the population. Why? Well this is the core of society, keeping the population happy. That means that people should have housing, food and something to do. Dissatisfaction can lead to anarchy.

Well, if you are somewhat a scholar you know all this. But now I have at least explained the basics. We, the industrialized countries have given more and more production abroad, to countries in Asia and other parts of the world. A world dominator for a lot of production is India and China and their neighbouring countries.

We, the industrialized countries, have moved production to i.e. Asia mainly because of cutting costs. This has been possible due to modern technologies for transport. However transporting something for a long way isn’t environmentally friendly at all. It isn’t just that the products are produced and shipped to our countries. Many times a lot of the materials are shipped from other parts of the world to be produced into a product i.e. Asia. So we could say that things really go all over the planet before they even reach the stores, to finally end up in your households.

How do you know that the production of the material was done ethically? How do you know that no life or nature didn’t have to suffer in order for the material to be produced? How do you know that the transports didn’t pollute nature or make life suffer on the way to the factories to be produced into products? How do you know that the people in the factories have good working conditions? You don’t.

There are labels like “fair trade”, KRAV, Reach, ÖEKO-tex and such that make companies certify their products. This way they guarantee a certain quality assurance for you as a costumer. No certification means no guarantees.

It is very easy to make all companies comply to i.e. Europeans ISO-standards and this way know how a product is produced. This can then be certified in an environmental label as well as fair trade label. If we pollute environments we are creating an unstable world. The eco-system is getting fucked up. The eco-system is connected on the other side of the world with your local environment. It is all connected. One thing dying in nature in one part of the world might make something in your neighbouring environment die. Even if you are not thinking about it. As an example I want to mention salmon and ale. Those are fish that need different parts of the world for different things. Also birds travel around the world. So everything is effected by problems far far away. You perhaps aren’t thinking about it, but everything is connected, whether you like it or not. This is just how our planet is made.

Then, on top of animal life and nature, we shouldn’t forget the people. If people are dissatisfied due to poverty, unequal settings and oppressed somehow that can create unstable societies. Just see Africa, werest crime is high and people shoot each other in different rebel wars. Then we have Asia. The people are being used as slaves in countries that produce our products. They are not even allowed to be sick, according to the article in SVD.se. The people are not given longer work contracts, they work short periods on contract for a while. If they complain their contracts are not prolonged, according to SVD.se. This creates uncertainty in life, money and so on. This creates unstable environments, societies that can in the end get – WAR – ANARCHY! So far the people are demonstrating outside factories that make cheap clothes for you to wear. They want higher salaries so they can survive. They are not even making the minimum for a sustainable life in their own countries the article in SVD says. That is really bad. They have no child leave, it is also written.

All the above is just overall bad and you and I are responsible! As long as we continue shopping at Walmart, HM and from Kingston factories (the companies in the below article) we are telling the companies we do not care. So why do they have to care? If you don’t? (I just wanted to add that more companies than these have Asian production and perhaps many of them have similar conditions?)

I am saying. We are going towards wars and anarchy in all the countries we are using for our benefit. In the end we to will suffer. So perhaps you should complain to the companies and make them say: “We want all our workers to have income they can survive on”. That is the only fair thing. How else can we maintain peace? People are not slaves, yet they are treated that way. We are no better now then when Americans enslaved entire races.

Asia isn’t alone in using people and having dissatisfied people. Other countries are at risk to. I am right and this I have observed. I do not need to be smart to connect the dots. Just connect the dots and you will open your eyes. YOU ARE A PART OF THIS. If you do not care – who does?

What can you do? Well, you can write letters, e-mails, suggestions for legislation, protest, inform, blog etcetera. You are a power factor. “Ringarna på vattnet” is all I am saying.

The big corporations rule the world

How are the big corporations any better than the old empires, kings, queens, popes or any other person that ruled the world before? They enslaved the population, so do the big corporation. Is part of the human race ment to be slaves to the rich? I am just wondering. I do not really enjoy this world of ours. There are not equal opportunities for men and women, class, ethnic background and such. Not as long as we continue differentiating people by gender, by age, by looks, by ethnic inheritance, by social class, by richness and so on. All those things actually show us that we are not equal. A cleaner is payed 12000 SEK per month for a full-time job in Sweden. Some might even get less. Some do not even get full-time jobs. A mall 1 room apartment can kost 5000 SEK. 12000 SEK is what the cleaner has before taxes. So you can figure out the numbers your self. Tax is dependent on the area where you live. The better the neighbourhood the lower the tax is almost always true (those that are rich enough get additional taxes). As a cleaner you probably need to live in a bad neighbourhood… otherwise you probably can’t afford it. So you get higher tax. This is Sweden’s tax system.

Well, anyway, the cleaner has a low status job, but is very important. Due to the cleaner the company or organisation can have healthier staff that get sick less. With that said, not everyone can do cleaning, some are allergic, others have problems in limbs and some do not have the eye for cleaning. So when someone says anyone can do that job – they are wrong. There are good and bad cleaners out there.

Well, companies that have a lot of cleaners have managers on the top. Some are really big corporations. They earn money on each one of these cleaners, otherwise they wouldn’t be in business, would they? Well, anyway, the owners are rich on the top of the food chain. They can live in luxury and have big boats and awesome homes. Some can afford to be eco-friendly and build giant eco-friendly houses for themselves. They can have enormous estates and get richer and richer each day. Until the day they feel bad and start doing charity. Instead of higher salary to the workers they make foundations. From those people have to apply for money. The founder of the foundations can pick and choose to their liking.

There is no foundation for paying off student loans for us workers. So even if you been to the university and done your homework some of these people still end up cleaning your shit up at your company. Some have higher education than you. Some are treated good, but some are treated bad. Some people behave like the cleaners are not worth the same. Others behave like the cleaners are the same as they. There are people for everything.

Well. Anyway. You buy stuff. You might also be short on money. Since the cleaner in Sweden doesn’t earn that much as another person might do, the cleaner must buy cheap. This means someone in the world needs to be even lower paid, so that the cleaner can afford the stuff. Somewhere else in the world that is. So in Asian countries some work for a couple of crowns per day. In Sweden you would get some shewing gum or candy for that money each day. Who can live on that? The person would definitely be poor and have no house. Probably the person wouldn’t even be able to afford a tent. It would have to rely on you or me giving a tent to them. This is reality. Today. NOW! And you and I are part of this system. Want to change it? Enlight people. Chat. Talk. Write. Blog. Recommend sites, films people have made and so on.

So with this to think about I give you this film, from YouTube. Enjoy!

The Ipod hell of today’s youth

My pet that is still zero years old and sometimes a menace did break a lot in the beginning. Clumsy so to speak. One thing it did break was the stereo. I took the time to take it apart, but I haven’t gotten the knowledge to repair mechanical stuff… I however know two that might… one is my biological father… but I do not dare to ask him. I would have to travel to far… and I do not have the latest phone number. And I do not know when I will go there next time, then perhaps I could ask… Well. Another person, that actually fixed an earlier version of a stereo, I haven’t really been in contact with for to many years. Feels strange to call them up.
I could also could take it to a repair office… but I do not think they even have parts to it. So is it even possible to buy such an item today? No. I have to buy parts and that becomes expensive. I could buy a mini stereo, but then I would have to change CD. I could buy a stereo set to the TV and use the Blueray to play records. But that is not an option. The TV set must be playable even if I choose to have a record on whilst I am watching a Blueray disc. No so that is not on option… the only option I then can think of amongst the ones I was looking for is a fucking DJ-player. What the? Why do only the professionals these days use CD exchangers? I know why. Todays youth are all for illegal downloading, which I am not. They also have everything electronically, even the legal downloads. So they have Ipods… not that our family doesn’t have a Ipod. I actually gave that as a birthday present to my partner. But when the partner is off… so is the Ipod. And I don’t want to waste money on a Ipod. I do not even have my music in electronic form. I am old-fashioned this way. A CD or DVD is a disc. In the car I was used to having a changer, as well as home. But then the pet broke it… by clumsiness. So well. Perhaps I will ask my father to have a look… when ever I happen to be in his hometown.

Man got threats for his skin colour for playing a part in a play

I think it´s bad when a man cannot be part of a play at a theater no matter what skin colour he or she has. However a man, with a Swedish name, but Indian looking looks, got, according to Aftonbladet.se, threats. They said that he was destroying the Strindberg legacy for beeing part of the play.

I think that anyone should be able to play any role in any play. I don´t mind if different ethnic looks play traditionally Swedish parts. What is the problem? It´s the acting that is the important thing, not the colour of the skin.

I think it´s so sad. The Indian looking actor has a Swedish name and I am guessing he is Swedish and might be adopted or partly Swedish. It´s sad that some people cannot accept that people have different ethnic looks.

Poem – This is my part of the world

I want to say something, are you willing to listen?

Sometimes I am angry
Especially when someone is blind
Not blind in the sence of eyes
I mean blind for the surronding world
People that live in their own bubble
Totally numb to what it happening
around them, thinking that everyone
is as lucky as they are, even though
they really know that people are not
Still these people continue to not
think of the rest of the world, not
even their neigbourhood as their
problem
Some just close their eyes and
don´t want to see
Others see and don´t care
I cannot do anything about these
people
But when they are out in the world
blinding others I have to step up
I have to say the truth from my part of the world
I have to let people know that the other
side is false in my world, so that people can
se more sides to a story
All stories have another perspective
and this blog is mine
Welcome to my part of the world

Clothing yourself for the dream job! (or any job)

I have a clothing issue. I have clothes. That is not the problem. But I have nothing to wear. Haha. How many times doesn´t people just think that? Many. At least the female population.

Of course I have clothes to wear, the problem is that you need clothes for different occations. For instance a job interview demands a different set of clothes dependent on what company you are going too. A retailer for clothes would probably appricieate a person dressed in latest fashion and styled of course. But for selling furniture I might have to look neet and clean cut, so that granny also would believe in my advice.

Of course, all of these things are stereotypes. But you have probably heard – dress the part. By dressing the part you have a slight advantage to others, at least look wise.

Then you also have more change of getting hired if you have the body for it too. For a brick layer job maybe you need to be fit, so you can keep up with the heavy lifting. But in a doctors office you could more be looking slim and healthy. Well, I am not saying that if you have the body you´ll get the job. That is only giving you an advantage.

Looking the part. Then beeing styled to the part in hair and face, finger nails and such. After this, remember the shoes… a couple of dirty shoes wouldn´t be all that good…it might bring down the overall impression.

Keep clean under the finger nails, some people are picky about that. Then you have to talk the part. Practice in front of a mirror, web cam or something. Look at all things that can be improved. Ask a friend, or family member to play the role of interviewer.

Think of all the questions, look at the add, try to reply to the add when replying to the questions, why you have the set of skills they are asking for.

Before even going into the interview – tell your self: I am humble, I am the best person for this job, I am at the right place, I like this place. This will give you a positive outlook for the first 30 seconds of first impression.

Good. Now you just need to shake perfectly, not to slow, fast, hard or soft. Be just enough of everything. Like we Swedes say: Var lagom.

But then under the interview, pop out, bloom, blossom so to speak. But, don´t take over. Try to mirror the interviewers body language – not to direct, but sublime. Have eye contact, so that you are coming off as honest. Don´t stare! Listen more than you speak – interviewers tend to like it (from experience). During the interview rethink: I am at the right place. I am perfect for this job. You like me. You think I am perfect. (It will show off in confidence.)

Joking and having a familiar tone before the interview is very well liked, it shows that you can handle “fikarums-konversationer” (tea breaks) with the staff.

Well, go off there now – rule the world in your corner!

Til death do us a part – smart clause

Many people think they will meet the love of their life after death… I am just saying, it is not fair for the one left behind to live. This person is surely to be able to find a new love. So how could it meet up with you and be your love upon death again. After all when people marry there is a clause “Til death do us a part”. So when you die you have no say anymore. No rights. You can still love the person but in the afterlife the person is free to go, so to speak.

Some people also stay in relationships they really want to end, so some might even be relieved when the partner dies. Then they truly can live the life they want. Some stay just for their promise of better and worse, when love has gone.
So maybe it is a good thing that the promise we make at a wedding isn´t forever. Yet many write love poems and songs about loving someone forever. I actually don´t think I would enjoy loving someone for eternity and not beeing able to love other people in what ever comes after this life, if any.

I also think that the eternal curse of life is rather upsetting. But where should our energy go? It cannot go anywhere than stay in the universe and I think everything is recycled in the universe. So weather we like it our not… we are in a eternal circle, even if a new big bang should come along, or this planet would live it last days under a failing sun far far away in the future… we would still be the energy and atoms building up the new universe…

Hmmm…. so having a clause that we do not need to stay married after death is pretty smart invention by who ever wrote it. And next time people say, meet you in afterlife… well it depends if the persons wants to or not. And after all afterlife might be you as a H2O particle, who knows…
