To much food!

I have way to much food left over from Christmas. And I am not much for Christmas food. I just like a few dishes and those I have eaten. But there was a lot of food left. I saw even more food today… from new years eve in the refrigerator. Today would be the last day to eat it. So I realized I wouldn´t be able to. I contacted the neighbour. Asked her if she wanted to help me eat it up today. She said yes. I was happy. Two eats more than one. So I didn’t have to throw away food. Neighbour is retired and not rich, so it was probably helpful. Also I like helping out. Like when putting up a new fence she didn’t have to pay any. Afterall our neighbour sometimes watches our kid. And never wants money, so I do it in other ways instead.

I do not want to invite a homeless here. And there are no homeless around here. I don’t want to go into town to give to a homeless. I am usually never in the City. But it is very smart to give a food box to the homeless. There is some kind of movement that does that. I read it somewhere the other day. However, they make too much food for dinner on purpose. I haven’t. I do not make food. I do know how to cook. I had A in cooking. But I really do not like cooking, so I rather not. Not even when I am all alone.

I do not like to waste food. But all food has a “best before” time, after that you could poison yourself. In the old days people didn’t look at a certain date. People knew what food should look and smell like. But today food is many times unnatural. Apples can be good-looking for a year or more in the refrigerator. I have tested. Scary. But I have no knowledge what food should look and smell like when it is “on the border”. I think people should be educated to know in schools. I want people to be able to see if food is good without looking at the date.

I have to praise Daniel Swedin

I think the title of this journalist article is really smart. “People don´t get healthy from beeing poor”.  (original title: Folk blir inte friska av att vara fattiga”. This is so true!!!!

In fact I happen to think that poverty can make people have less good food and not exercise with equipment that they might need and in fact get sicker!!! I happen to think poverty can make people sicker, not only health wise, but also mentally. So having poverty benefits in my world – NOONE!

A poor person (I am probably not considered really poor… but I cannot afford to get my white trash smile fixed) cannot allways look their best. Getting a job – you need to look clean cut and neat. And if you do not have money to dress for the interview… then you cannot impress with your clothes. That means less chance to get the job. So there are many factors working on poverty.

Also you cannot join the rest of the population to do stuff. A movie might be to expensive and not all friends want their friends to pay the movie. Beeing poor isn´t easy. It doesn´t benefit anyone. You consume less as poor. You cannot contribute to your neighbourhoods food store and so on. Many poor seem to live in “poor” neighbourhoods in majority. This can mean less services in your neighbourhood… like loosing the closest store… many things come along with poverty. Anders Borg and Fredrik Reinfeldt doesn´t seem to have considered all those factors. Why?

I am just wondering. I am not the worlds smartest person, but still I have valid arguments. I could even give more, but they are so many. The Swedish Alliance don´t understand poverty.

A poor person cannot afford the hair dresser. A computer. And so on. This makes it more difficult to get a job. Even if they go to the library, which many do, you still do not have your own computer and can sit more than day time and fix the CV, search for jobs. And sitting on offical places gives no integrity in the job search. At Arbetsförmedlingen it´s not easy to sit with everyone else. Looking for jobs… might be ok, but then applying and writing personal letters… where anyone can see… well… it´s not the best of options trying to convince the employer if you cannot sit alone at home or at a quite place. All unemployed should be given free Internet and free mini PC, so that they can apply for jobs easily anywhere. The state should do it.

Also free hair cut, free costume and many such things should also be given. Free styling. Free clothing from the styling. Free dental to fix a white trash smile. But all these things are unavailable for a poor person. And all these things effect people.

Also what you can eat, how you can train effects your chances to get well. To get a job. Poverty walks hand in hand with less options to get things in life.

Asylum kids get food now

Last week I wrote and article about the asylum kids that didn´t get any meals at school, like all other kids in Sweden do. They said that they got money to be fed at home and also they said that the kids had different religious belif systems and it was complicated to preper food for them. So they ate at home. Not that there is anything wrong with eating at home, but like I said, there is other reasons. People get people skills from dining with others, standing in line, eating proper and such things. The kids learn to socialize through school meals. Therefor it is important. Many reacted and now the kommun (town) decided the kids will get meals in school. Critic in a democracy can indeed result in change. Good right?

Well, this is how it works. You write, talk about things you want to change. Hopefully they change. You can really effect anyone reading och listening to you. Democracy is all about having the right to an oppinion. Sweden is a democracy. And we, the public, got a town to change to the better. The asylum kids now get food at school!

Children that seek asylum in Sweden don´t get any food at school…

…since they get money to get food for each day at home… oh mine. The contribution to a alsylum seeking family in Sweden isn´t much money, so why doesn´t the school just let the children eat? I heard this on SR (radio) P3 Nyheter this morgning and could also read about it in DN.se.

I think there is another reason for children to eat at school – the integration into the society. Why alienate the asylum seeking children further from society with such stupid money rules? Eating with class mates is important in order to feel part of all school activites. Who ever thought about the money didn´t think of children. Stupid rules. That´s all I am saying.

Making ecological food

In an experiment a man in Stockholm started to take his bike and do the shopping directly from the farmers. He has chosen ecologically produced food. He ended up in having better and cheaper living costs, according to the TV-program Plus. When he didn´t go to supermarkets anymore he didn´t buy anything else than FOOD we get to know by the TV-clip. He didn´t consume any potato chips and such things, he communicates. He cut all middle man hands from the food chain. His way of life is now more sustainable. Very smart! Since he takes the bike to the farmers he also gets good condition training.

Another family started to buy only necessary stuff. They stopped buying other things than food and hygenic articles. And things that was absolutely necessary. They ended up cutting all their living costs, according to Plus.

I think this is how we need to go towards the future. I have often bought things on sites for used stuff. I also try to mend things that get broken if its possible, otherwise I give them to recyling stations, so that the material can be reused. If I get bored of something I give it to goodwill or sell it on a site for used stuff. Currently I have a children’s chair and a children’s stroller that I am going to place on a site for second hand stuff. I got the children´s chair from my spouses relatives, a couple of my spouses cousins have used it, so our child is just one of many using the chair. The stroller I bought from a site for second hand stuff. Our child is number 3 in line to use the stroller. So by me placing them online someone else gets the chance to save the environment and not just that – also money. Buying children’s stuff can be pretty expensive for those having their first child. In food we have skipped Glutamat and many other articifial ingridients that in fact can be dangerous to us and nature and its animals. We try to buy things that have no strange substances, the only substance we allow is “concentrating agent”, since that is sometimes difficult to find food without. Sometimes it´s also better for the environment to have that, the food can be used much longer. And many companies also use natural products as concentrating agents.

Well, then we also recycle all our packages, papers and such. For those that do not want paper advirtisment you can put a label on the mail box saying you rather not have advirtisement. I think that companies should have the advirtisement online, this way you can plan the shopping online. That however consumes electricity, so in this case I do not know which one is the best. In many modern stores there is a machine where you can see the offerings for the day. That is also electric. And the cupon is still written on paper. I do not know how the companies should save the environment here. If you have a environmental solution, please share it with the world – no matter what it is. Every little bit is a important piece in the chain.
