How to make an advirtisment

Youtube is full of stuff. I have chosen to show a video that advirtises Cloud solution from Oracle.

This video shows allergories to construction to show how a cloud works. First it shows a public cloud were the islands are connected with bridges. Everyone understand islands and bridges. Bridges are “connectors” between islands and clearly shows how the softwares connect to each other if your buisness needs it. This is a really simple way of showing a connection.

Later on they show how you can have a private cloud. That consists of a private building, also this people can understand easily. By making allergories Oracle tries to explain something complicated easily. But for me, I only have a lot of question. I would like to see the SAD documents and review what type of coding and testing has been done. What type of requirements they have fullfilled. I would like to know what type of safety there really is behind all this. But the customer is problably the CEO´s and not me.

I know that clouds are not as safe as something were you are not connected to the Internet. I think you should allways think that everything online is public, no matter how private you might think it is. A safety is never safer than the passwords and it´s users. Location is allways a risk too. Accessability to locations is also a risk.

Well, see the video yourself and you will understand how the marketeers have shown something complex easily and understandable. But yet lacking the information I would really want.

IKEA has removed all women in advirtisments in Saudi Arabia

I know that people in Saudi Arabia are very sensitive to females. My father has worked there, so I know. He wasn´t allowed to look at any women. They were warned from looking at Saudi women. But that was when I was a kid, a looooong time ago, one would have thought they would have changed and become more modern. But I guess not. Still women cannot work, they cannot walk alone in public and many other things that we might find strange. But then, they are pretty rich, so the women can probably afford to not work, so to speak. And who says taking care of the kids and the household isn´t work? However not letting the women drive (source Expressen.se)… seems for me a little bit strange. But then, my parents had to be apart for a long period, since we weren´t allowed to come with if mother didn´t get married to my father. My mother chose not too. So I didn´t have to go there to live. I am thankful for not having to live there.

So having to read Expressen.se today about the IKEA catalogue with no grown women was a bit strange. However many companies make different adds in different countries. That is something everyone learns in marketing. Adapting adds to the audience. That is in fact what IKEA has done.

But I feel it strange that they couldn´t replace the women with a women dressed in Saudi clothes? I mean, the households after all contain women, don´t they? And I wonder why they removed all the women only in Saudi Arabia? Hmm. Did someone there want them to remove all women? They must have done some research I am guessing.

I just wish that they were not so sensitive to women. But I know about other countries with sensitive persons too. When adopting people send images of themselves. And for those images they get information from the agencies about what to show and not to show. Some countries are sensitive to skin, feet and such. Other countries don´t want images with household pets. There are many strange requests. But people looking to adoptadapt, just as IKEA did. IKEA adapted to the local market.

So with this I am saying IKEA is not alone there are many strange cultures for us here in the western world. We are all different. We are all sensitive to different things.

Maybe Saudi men are very sexual and get horny for nothing? ;O) Just joking. Couldn´t help it.

I was in the subway system and one add on the wall caught my attention

I was standing there on the plattform one morning. There isn´t much to do when waiting for the subway train to arrive. Usually I look at the walls. Often the walls contain adds or art. This time the walls contained adds from NK. NK is a collection of stores in a high end galleria in the middle of Stockholm. I however do not go there other than to buy perfume in the basement floor… that is mostly since they have the products I am buying. I don´t have a choice so to speak, well if I don´t wanna buy a gift that is enjoyed then of course I can buy something else…

Well, when I was standing there I looked at the different adds. The concept was to “get a new you”. The images where artistic and I do not believe anyone actually would dress like the concept in the images. However people do buy the pieces that the young women where using. And the focus was on pieces in the adds. One piece in each add was lifted up with headers like “Skirt from Nude” 1000 SEK, or similair. One of the products was a west from a designer label. It cost something between 29 000-30 000SEK. I was thinking who buys a leppard west for more than a average month salery? Hmm…

I don´t know who of the people on the plattform would pay that for a west… I was wondering if a person that does buy something expensive like that really travels with subway? Then would they take the cycle or walk? Hmm.. Would they even work? It´s difficult to have a car if you live in the inner parts of the city. So maybe they do have this public in the subway system…. but then who earns so much money that they can …. waist… that much money on a west? Hmmm. Well in Sweden a average income is like 23000 SEK and that is before taxes. Remove taxes around 31% in Stockholm area from that. So this means that the amount the person would have to pay is for a average income in Sweden about 1,5 month salery. So I am guessing not to many actually can buy it.

So how is this advertisement agency, where the majority cannot afford the item, thinking? I think that it will be “copied” by HM or some other retailer and then the girls and boys can dress the part without having the original high end labels. After all, everyday in Metro (a free “newspaper” available at the subway stations) we can see tips how to dress like celebrities for smaller amounts of money.

It won´t take to much time before the clothes are copied if they now happen to be in fashion or get in fashion.

So even if people won´t buy the clothes featured in the adds in the subway, the adds will effect the public. We will consider it fashion much due to the price… I am guessing. Expensive = celebs favourites perhaps? I do not know if its so they are thinking, but even if they do not think it the price gives status to the garment. Status is admired in this twisted world. Therefor people will be effected. The adds will have a impact on how the girls in Stockholm are going to dress.

Fashion shows if you are the inn people or not. Thanking God for classic clothes, no need to stay in fashion that way…. and allways be dressed right. Not saying I am not dressing in fashion… I don´t care if I am or not. I just dress as I please. Sometimes it just happens to be in fashion… Sometimes all my clothes are worn out at a certain time and the stores only offer fashion clothes… then it´s fashion… Vintage would be an option if they where available in all sizes, but they never seem to have. I love vintage, beeing both unique and saving the world at the same time. I love it.

I am starting to like legislators in the US, if EU just did the same

According to SVD.se the US has started to look at legislation regarding search engines saving statistics about your surfing habits. I think no private company should be allowed to store any data of my surfing habits. I think that saving suc things can create blackmail scenarios. I also think that it is a threat to integrity, which is one core reason for us beeing human. If storage is saved anyone that wants to target your habits can misusage them. It is a threat to democracy to save surfing habits of people.

It doesn´t however stop here, the saving is a threat in other ways too. Some adds can be misused and be links to phising sites and it can be false adds making you donwload bad stuff into the computer. Some might even be created to steal information from your PC.

Well, any type of saving shouldn´t be allowed. Not for any coorporation on your surfing habits. If you want this to be true in all countries, then you need to speak up. You need to talk about it, write, blog, inform others to take a stand. Only then we can change it and make legislation to protect the freedom of expression and finding information on the Internet. Democracy doesn´t come for free, in a democracy everyone needs to take a stand and do what they believe in.

Hornbach should stop their sexistic adds

In adds from Hornbach, adressing females, the women are lightly clothed and in sexy positions. I am just saying, that is very sexistic. I wouldn´t want to have and add for me building at home in with a sexy women or sexy men. I only want nicely designed tools and all those things. I don´t really need to see people in the adds. If any people would be in the adds, I prefer regular Annes and Joes, just like another company named ByggMax uses. They have both men and women in those adds and they are not sexistic. Not just the images are sexistic in Hornbach adds, also the sayings in the adds. They try to give an impression that they are not targeting girls with zilicone and so on.. in the texts.

It is possible to target an audience to attract some audiences without using sexistic adds. One can use colours, shapes and also the product sold can be designed from the factory to target an audience. This way you still get the public you want, but you are not sexistic.

Well maybe Hornback learns something. Do you wanna read an article by a genus scientist.

Freely translated with Google translate is says: “- It is a very blunt way of communicating, where they assume that all women will recognize themselves, and that is of course not the case, says Anja Hirdman, gender researchers and continues:
- It is a clumsily and ridiculously stereotyped advertising language with a focus on bodyimage and pounds rather than what it really should be all about.”

Selling stuff on the Internet cost one user money

How is it possible? Well on the auction site Tradera.se a Swedish woman was selling her sofa. It started with a “innocent” question about buying it from abroud, according to DN.se. However the customer never gave a bid on tradera.se. I personally think the women selling should have left it there, no bid, no sale.

However she sent an emal saying she could agree to send the sofa abroud. She got email about a transaction gone to Paypal, but not yet beeing forwarded to the seller. Then the con artists stole money from her Paypal account. She got “phished” so to speak. Non of the mails from Paypal where from Paypal so to speak. The women understood something was wrong, but when she wanted to back from the sale, she was threatend about what could happen to her.

4000 SEK was stolen from her account and she still has the sofa. The con artists, cybercriminals, lure costumers into something that they don´t understand. Paypal never sends mails about transactions. As usual the Police never helps out, the amount was to small. How can we feel safe in this IT society? We are in deep waters when we are not protected by the state anymore.

I got a phisingmail from a site I had been surfing on the other day. I thought it strange that they where sending adds, since I was pretty sure I had not used the email adress for that purpose. However, I did not click on any links. I surfed out to the real website in question and said I forgot the password. I got reply: No such mail adress in our register. So I knew for sure it was a well done phising mail. Beacuse, if you do not want adds, you click unregister, don´t you? Well now they are sending that type of phisingmails… just saying.
